Noel Marsalis

Noel Denton Marsalis, 90, passed away Thursday, April 3, 2014 in Abilene. His funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, April 6 in the Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel, 5750 HWY 277 South. Interment will be held on Saturday, April 12 in the Harmony Church Cemetery in Crystal Springs, Mississippi.

Noel was born on September 30, 1923 in Jackson, Mississippi the son of Noel Denton Marsalis Sr. and Clara Sanders Marsalis. He served in the U.S. Air Force and owned and operated his own Mobile Home dealership in Big Spring for many years.

Survivors include his son, Denny Marsalis of Abilene his daughter, Carolyn Marsalis Morris of Georgetown his brother, Bill Marsalis and wife Maria his sister, Geraldine Marsalis Williams his sisterinlaw, Willene Marsalis grandchildren, Mike Marsalis, Carolyn Marsalis, Ty Bethel, Amber Marsalis Young, Melynie Marsalis Chavez 16 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

His parents, his wife of 68 years, Johnnye Bell Marsalis, one sister, Elaine Marsalis Chambers, and one brother, Bernard Marsalis preceded him in death.
