Nona Bachus

Nona Jo Bachus, 71, passed away on Sunday, June 21, 2009 in Abilene. Her graveside funeral service will be 11:00 AM on Wednesday, June 24, 2009 at Elmwood Memorial Park, 5750 Hwy 277 South. Visitation will be from 5:00 7:00 PM on Tuesday, June 23, 2009 at Elmwood Funeral Home.

Nona was born January 18, 1938 in Kansas City, Missouri and graduated from Shawnee Mission High School. She married James Bachus in 1974 in Van Buren, Arkansas and moved to Abilene in 1975 from Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. Nona was a member of Bethel Temple Christian Center and worked in the Home Health Care Industry for many years. She enjoyed spending her time cooking for her family and listening to gospel music.

Nona is survived by five children, Patti Smith, Evelyn Stevens, Harold Meyer, Diane Meyer, Kerri Slaton; seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, two brothers and four sisters.

She is preceded in death by her husband, James, two brothers, and her devoted life long friend, Jean Mansell
