Norma Loudermilk

Norma Merle Clark Loudermilk, 84, passed away September 2, 2009. Her graveside funeral service will be at 10:00 AM, Friday, September 4, 2009 in the Sun Dial Section of Elmwood Memorial Park, 5750 Hwy 277 South. Visitation will be from 6:00 till 8:00 PM on Thursday, September 3, 2009 at Elmwood Funeral Home.

Mrs. Loudermilk was born in Clovis, New Mexico, on November 4, 1924, and grew up in Abilene. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hardy Loudermilk, parents, Arthur William and Gwendolyn Merle Clark, her brother, A. B. Buddy Clark, and her two sisters, Beth Van Cleave, and Ann Willoughby. Hardy and Norma were long time residents of San Antonio, where Hardy was the golf pro at Oak Hills Country Club. Norma is survived by one son, Gary Loudermilk and his wife, Beth Louder milk of San Antonio, and grandchildren, Brandon Loudermilk and wife, Jessica of Davis, California, Sara Mayeu and husband Chris of Houston, and Abby Loudermilk of San Antonio, one daughter, Brenda Loudermilk of Austin. Norma has three great grandchildren, Catherine and Conner Mayeu and Alexander Loudermilk. She also is survived by two sisters, Lucille Byars of Merkel, and Patricia Cooper of Katy, two sisters-in-law, Wanda Clark and Dolores Van Cleave, both of Abilene, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and a wealth of friends.

Norma was a faithful member of the Church of Christ since a young girl. She was a member of Southern Hills Church of Christ, including the 29ers Sunday School Class. In San Antonio, Norma and Hardy were members of the Sunset Ridge Church of Christ. Norma shared the love of golf with Hardy, playing tournament golf in her earlier years and winning the ladies championship at Oak Hills CC, in 1968. Norma loved her family, friends and church and she was much loved by them. She will be remembered as an elegant woman, loyal and loving wife, and compassionate and respected person.

The family wishes to thank all of her caregivers at Wesley Court and Sears Methodist Hospice.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association, Southern Hills Church of Christ, or Medina Childrens Home, Medina, Texas.
