Ofelia "Ofie" Olvera, 71, of Tye, Texas passed away on Tuesday, January 23, 2018 at a local hospital.
Ofelia was born on June 20, 1946 in Raymondville, TX to her parents, Ramon, Sr. and Felipa Bermea. She attended school in Nazerath, TX. She married Pedro Olvera in 1967. The Olveras moved to Tye in 1969. She worked for the Salvation Army and Dr. Pate as their housekeeper for many years. She enjoyed cooking, garage-sales, and most of all taking care of her family.
Ofelia is survived by her husband, Pedro; her daughters, Barbara Lara and husband Marcha, Lorie Butler and husband Michael; her sons, Hector Bermea and wife Melissa, Israel Olvera and wife Anna; her sisters, Mary Alvarez, and Elva Castillo and husband Joe; her brothers, Ramon Bermea, Jr. and wife Dora, George Bermea and wife Lori, Rudy Bermea and wife Dalia. She is also survived by 20 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her loving sons, Michael and Ray Olvera; her parents, Ramon, Sr. and Felipa Bermea; brothers, Rosendo and Elias Bermea.
Pallbearers for the service will be Joe Alvarez, Jr., Anthony Bermea, Eric Gilmore, Jr., Michael Ray Olvera, Zachary Olvera, and Cory Williams. Honorary Pallbearers will be Jacob Mendez and Danny Bermea.
Visitation is scheduled for Thursday, January 25, 2018 at Overflow Worship Center 2958 Grape St., Abilene, TX from 6-8 p.m. and the funeral will take place Friday, January 26, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Overflow Worship Center. Burial will follow at Tye Cemetery. Pastor David Gomez will officiate. Under the direction of Elmwood Funeral Home.
