Ola Arlene Howard, 75, passed away Thursday, January 1, 2009 at Hendrick Medical Center. Her funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, January 5th in the Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel, 5750 HWY 277 South. Mrs. Howards wishes were to be cremated and the cremains will be placed in the Texas State Veterans Cemetery at a later date. Viewing and visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 PM on Sunday at Elmwood Funeral Home.
Ola was born on May 24, 1930 in New Kirk, Oklahoma where she grew up and attended school. She married Ralph Howard on December 29, 1951 and they lived in various places as Ralph made his career serving in the U.S. Air Force. She has been a resident of Abilene since 1964. Ola had worked at CG Conn and Victor Equipment Company. She was a Baptist.
Ola enjoyed cooking, collecting recipes and recipe books, listening to music and reading.
Survivors include her husband of 57 years Ralph Howard of Abilene; five children, Kerry Howard of Abilene, Timothy Howard and wife Viola of Dayton, Nevada, Ginger Logan of Abilene, Kevin Howard of Lubbock and Mary Howard of Abilene; six grandchildren, John Logan of Germany, Thomas Howard of Carson City, Nevada, Alisha Giles of Sequim, Washington, Christina Howard of Sacramento, California, Candace Howard of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Steven Logan of Abilene; one brother, Clyde Wyant of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; four sisters, Genevieve Tally, Louise Dubach, and Imogene Leach all of Arkansas, Kansas and her twin sister, Opal Barnett of Albuquerque, New Mexico; and many nieces and nephews.
Her parents, John Wyant and Lilly Mae Dunbar Wyant and one son-in-law, Michael Logan preceded her in death.
