Ola Ana Starks Vaughan 96, passed away on June 7, 2010 in Houston. Her graveside funeral service will be Friday, June 11, 2010 at Elmwood Memorial Park under the direction of Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 Hwy 277 South.
Ola was born June 29, 1913 in Lueders Jones County, Texas and attended school at Bumpus Hill School. She married Franklin Cleo Vaughan on June 29, 1933 and lived in Lueders where they made their home before moving to Abilene in 1952. She was a member of the Corinth Baptist Church in Abilene for many years until she moved to Houston to be near her son in August 2000.
Mrs. Vaughan was a homemaker and a faithful member of her church. She loved her family and her Lord and especially loved to sing the old hymns that praised Him. Her health began to fade and for the past several years, Mrs. Vaughan resided at The Village Healthcare Center in Houston, Texas, and was under the care of Hospice Compassus, also of Houston.
Ola was preceded in death by her parents, John Wesley Starks and Lena Pearl Graham Starks husband, Franklin Cleo Vaughan brother, Grover Wesley Starks sisters, Martha Jane Starks, and Cora Lucille Stapp a granddaughter, Pamela Vaughan.
She is survived by her sisters, Doris Elliott of Humble, Texas, Tommie Oliver of Anson, Texas, and Bess Leary of Mundelien, Illinois son and daughterinlaw, Kenneth Wayne and Betty Vaughan of Driftwood, Texas grandchildren, Scott W. Vaughan of Dripping Springs, Texas and Anne Selph Sekakuku of Albuquerque, New Mexico great grandchildren: Sarah, Trevor, and Jessica Vaughan and Zachary, Jeremy, and Rebecca Selph.
