Ozella Loden, 82, passed away Monday, June 1, 2009 in Abilene. Her funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, June 4th in the Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel, 5750 HWY 277 South with burial following in Elmwood Memorial Park. Viewing will be from 9:00 AM until 8:00 PM on Wednesday and up until service time on Thursday at Elmwood Funeral Home.
Mrs. Loden was born on July 31, 1926 in Binger, Oklahoma and at the age of 3 moved to a farm near Olton where she grew up and in 1943 graduated from Olton High School. After high school she worked for a short time in Clovis, New Mexico, before moving to Dallas and finally to Lubbock where she worked as an office manager for several prominent doctors. She married Truman Loden on October 1, 1977 in Lubbock and they have made their home in Potosi for the last 25 years. Ozella enjoyed working in the yard, playing cards, traveling and working crossword puzzles. She has been active in volunteer work with the Food Bank of Abilene, Abilene Regional Medical Center, and Meals on Wheels.
Survivors include her husband, Truman Loden of Abilene; three sons, Gary Buck of Arlington, Donnie Buck and wife Diane, and Richard Buck all of Lubbock; two step-daughters, Jana Goss, and Laura Lambert and husband Chuck all of China Springs; one sister, Lorane Meriwether of Plainview; 3 grandchildren, 9 step-grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and 8 step-great grandchildren.
Her step-daughter, Paula Cowthon preceded her in death.
