Patricia Ann Bogar exchanged her earthly body for a glorious, pain free heavenly body on July 19, 2017. Graveside service will be Saturday morning, July 22, at Elmwood Memorial Park at 10:00, and a memorial service of celebration led by the Rev. Felicia Hopkins will follow at 11:00 in the sanctuary of First Central Presbyterian Church. As the only child of Floyd Bogar and Ruth Galbraith Bogar, Patricia was born at Hendrick Hospital on January 5, 1937. Pat graduated from Abilene High School in 1955 and earned a Bachelor of Science degree and a Master of Education degree from McMurry University. She spent her teaching career working with fourth grade students at Jane Long Elementary School and retired in 1992. Patricia was a member of Kappa Delta Phi, Life member of Texas State Teachers Association, Texas Parent-Teacher Association, Abilene Retired Teachers Association, Texas Retired Teachers Association, and a life member of St. Paul United Methodist Church. Her interests include travel, Taylor Jones Humane Society, Abilene High Eagles, TCU athletics, and cultural events in Abilene.
Patricia was preceded in death by her parents, aunts, and uncles, and several cousins.
She is survived by cousins Linda Schreiber and husband, Mark, of Austin; Liz Griffith of Abilene; Robert Andrews and wife, Verdell, of Ft. Worth; Rev. James Andrews and wife, Mary, of San Angelo; Maryana Harrell and husband, Don, of Austin; and Melissa Andrews of Austin. She is also survived by numerous friends including Marylan Bacon and many former students as well as special "children" Gracie and Kelsie.
Pat wrote a few days before her passing that she has enjoyed every part of her life and is grateful for what people have done for her through the years. Suggestions for remembrances include Taylor Jones Humane Society, West Texas Rehab Center, St. Paul United Methodist Church, and Meals on Wheels.
