Patricia Thompson

Patricia Thompson, affectionately known as Pat, was born in Pampa, Texas September 21, 1929. Her parents were Charles and Florence Hester. She grew up in Shawnee, Oklahoma and moved to Oklahoma City, where she graduated from Central High School in 1947. She attended the University of Oklahoma, where she met John R. Thompson, and they married on August 25, 1950. They moved to Abilene, Texas in 1952 and have resided there since. She graduated from McMurry University in 1963.

She is survived by her husband, John R. Thompson, and her three sons: Craig Thompson, of Abilene; John "Chris" Thompson, and wife, Tenna Thompson, of Victoria, Texas; and Cole Thompson, and wife, Lori Thompson, of Abilene. By her eight grandchildren: Sera Thompson, Adam Stephens, Taylor Thompson, Mason Thompson, Elizabeth Pena, Wyatt Thompson, Beau Thompson, and Isaac Lock. By her two great-grandchildren: Tate Stephens and Jack Thompson. And by her sister, Shirley Schell of Cambridge, Massachusetts.

Pat led a full and fortunate life. She and John enjoyed many weekends at their cabin on Lake Brownwood and peaceful summer days on the bay in Rockport with friends. She loved to go to Las Vegas and play the slots. She also treasured her dress-shop "buying" trips to New York. She loved New York theatre.

Pat was a life-long bridge player. She played regularly with several clubs, and while she loved the game, she loved the women she played with even more. On the last day of her life, Pat was looking forward to her next bridge game.

Pat was a loving and fun wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She was cherished by many and will be dearly missed. Her life was a blessing to all who knew her.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, April 28, at Elmwood Funeral Home at 5750 U.S. Hwy 277 South. Entombment will immediately follow. Visitation will be on Elmwood Funeral Home on Friday, April 27, from 5 to 7 p.m.
