Patsy "Pat" Harris, passed away peacefully on July 13, 2024, at the age of 80. She was surrounded by her family in Abilene, Texas, where she lived a life filled with love, compassion, and unwavering dedication to those she held dear.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, July 18, 2024, 10:00 am, with Funeral Services to follow at 11:00 AM in the Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel, 5750 Hwy 277 South, Abilene, Tx. Graveside services will be in Elmwood Memorial Park.
Born on April 11, 1944, in Abilene to Marvin and Fanny Pearl Sherrell, Pat grew up with a deep-rooted sense of hard work, kindness, and a genuine love for people.
Pat dedicated many years of her life to the City of Abilene and even won Employee of the Year in 1997. She worked in Human Resources for 35 years until her well-earned retirement.
Beyond her professional life, Pat's heart belonged to her family and her beloved cocker spaniel dogs, who brought her immeasurable joy throughout her life. She shared a loving and devoted marriage with her husband, Sam Lee Harris, for 53 years. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. She was also known for her love of driving, particularly her cherished Mustang, in which she delighted shocking the "young bucks" around town well into her 70s.
Pat is preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Hollis Sherrell.
She is survived by her loving husband, Oliver "Sam" Lee Harris; niece, Debbie Antilley and nephew, David Sherrell; nieces Brooke Anderson, Robin Castellanos, and Carlissa Blevins; and sisters-in-law, Betty Sherrell, Darlene Graham, Eula Cook, and Catherine Giddens. She is also survived by many great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews who loved her dearly, and knew her simply as "PatPat"
She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, generosity, and a genuine love for life that will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know her.
