Patsy Pool

Patsy Pool, 75, passed away Sunday, June 14, 2009 in Abilene. Her funeral service will be 2:00 PM, Wednesday, June 17, 2009 at Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 Hwy 277 S. with Reverend Robert Pelfrey officiating. Visitation will be on Tuesday, June 16, 2009 from 6:00 8:00 PM at Elmwood Funeral Home.

Patsy was born February 21, 1934 in Noonday, Texas to Ishmael and Laura Faye Murray. She married Teddy Pool on December 6, 1952, and they moved to Abilene in 1963. After moving to Abilene she began her college education by earning her bachelors degree from McMurry University and her Masters from Abilene Christian University. She then began her elementary teaching career in 1968 with Abilene Independent School District. She became one of the first female principals in Abilene and the first principal at Bassetti Elementary School where she continued until her retirement.

Patsy was a dedicated member of Elmwood West Methodist Church. She and Teddy enjoyed traveling to many places and enjoying the great outdoors together.

Patsy is survived by her husband, Ted Pool; three children, Randy and wife Marsha, of Gun Barrel City, Brent Pool of Thorndale, Stacia Martin and husband Randy of Abilene; seven grandchildren, Ryan, Rustin, Tarynn, Tucker, and Garrett Pool, Hunter and Hailey Martin; and many in her education and church families.

She is preceded in death by her parents; and one granddaughter, Emma-Lee Pool.

Pallbearers for the service will be Ray Martin, Don Bledsoe, Ryan Pool, Rustin Pool, Hunter Martin, Tucker Pool, Garrett Pool, and Jim Wilson.
