Paula Silva

Paula R. Silva, 94, passed away Saturday, August 29, 2009 in Abilene. Her funeral service will be at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, September 1, 2009 at St. Vincent Pallotti Catholic Church, 2525 Westview. Visitation will be Monday, August 31, 2009 at 6:00 PM with a Rosary service beginning at 7:00 PM at Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 Hwy 277 South.

Paula was born July 28, 1915 to Ramon and Natividad Rodriguez in Hondo, TX. She spent her childhood in Devine, TX and married Lucas Silva on April 1, 1931. They later moved to Munday, TX and raised their family before finally moving to Abilene in 1966. Paula was a member of St. Vincent Pallotti Catholic Church and an active member of the Crucio. She had many passions in her life, first and foremost was her family, she loved all types of birds, and enjoyed spending her spare time gardening and tending to her flowers. One special love that she had was for her wonderful dog Bambi. She left behind a great work ethic for her family who remember her as a workaholic. She will be dearly missed by all those who were fortunate enough to share in her precious love.

Paula is survived by six children, Ramon Silva of Abilene, Remigo Silva and wife Gladys of Abilene, Ramiro Silva and wife Lydia of Abilene, Ray Silva and wife Alice of Abilene, Rosalinda Silva of Chicago, and Roseanne Fernandez and husband Carlos of Abilene; one brother, Larry Rodriguez of Chicago; two sisters, Maria Louisa Gonzales of San Antonia, and Clara Aguilar of Laredo; twenty three grandchildren; fifty eight great-grandchildren; six great great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and wonderful friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lucas Silva, her parents, five children, three sisters, and three brothers.
