Paulette Thomas

Paulette Thomas was born April 4, 1949, to Paul and Ruth Eizabeth Polk in Brownwood, TX. She was the 3rd oldest of 5 children born to this union. She professed her faith in salvation through Jesus Christ at an early age. At the age of 11, she moved to Oakland, CA with her family where she later graduated from Oakland High School. After this, Paulette married Carl Lynn Covington. Of this marriage union, two children were born: Rodney and Lisa.

In 1972, Paulette moved to Abilene, TX with her parents. Here, she studied and graduated from Cisco Junior College where she received a license as a Vocational Nurse in 1978. She went on to work at the Abilene State School and Middleton Correctional Facility over the next few decades. On November 1, 1980, Paulette was united in holy matrimony to the love of her life Earl Thomas. They remained devoted to each other until his death on March 18, 2020.

Paulette was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Ruth Elizabeth Polk, her husband, Earl Thomas, one sister Willie Ruth Matthews, her brother James Laren Polk and one grandchild, Issac Covington.

She leaves to cherish her loving memory her two children: son Rodney Covington (Stephanie) of Ft. Worth, TX and daughter Lisa Covington-Scott (Freddie) of Garland, TX; 2 sisters, Shirley Pearl Coley of Loganville, Georgia and Patsy Louis Polk of Abilene, TX; 4 grandchildren: Brandon Newsom, Talicia Gobert-High (Chadrick), Rodney O'Brian Covington (Yajarrah) and Alonzo Johnson; 12 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and loving friends.

Services will be held Sunday, December 3, 2023, 2:30pm at the Elmwood Memorial Park, 5750 Highway 277 South, Abilene, TX 79606
