Pauline Martinez

Pauline D. Martinez, 85, passed away Monday, December 5, 2011 in Abilene. Her funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, December 9th in the Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel, 5750 HWY 277 South with interment following in Elmwood Memorial Park. A prayer service with visitation following will be held at 3:00 PM on Thursday at Elmwood.

Pauline was born on July 26, 1926 in Coleman County where she was raised and attended school. She married Alfonso Al Martinez on April 19, 1948 in Morton Texas. Al and Pauline lived in various places throughout Texas and the Panhandle as they worked in the farming and ranching industry. She was a successful business woman, owning and operating Poor Boys Caf while living in Hereford and La Estrellita Restaurant while living in Morton.

Pauline had a great love for animals and had special patients for nursing any ailing animal back to health. She was a country girl all of her life and always maintained a strong work ethic, often working from sunrise to sunset as she cared for her family, her businesses and her livestock. She enjoyed flowers and plants and was an avid doll collector.

Survivors include her husband of 63 years, Al Martinez of Abilene her children, Sarah Garcia and husband Manny, Llolanda Padilla and husband Ignacio, Florencia Espitia and husband Robert all of Abilene, Selia Galvan of Oswego, New York, Alfonso Martinez III and wife Sandy, and Roxann Martinez also of Abilene her siblings, Balbino Delgadillo, Rita Sandoval, Benjamin Garcia Jr. and Moses Garcia 17 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren.

Her parents, Feliz Delgadillo and Florencia Martinez Delgadillo, brothers, Hipolito Garcia, Jimmy Garcia, Raul Delgadillo and Lupe Delgadillo and two grandchildren preceded her in death.
