Pedro Castro

Pedro L. Castro, 87, went to be with the Lord on September 17, 2016 in Abilene surrounded by his loving family. A funeral mass will be held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, September 21, 2016 at Holy Family Catholic Church, 5410 Buffalo Gap Road. Burial will follow at Elmwood Memorial Park, 5750 Hwy 277 South. Visitation will be 5:00 to 8:00 PM Tuesday, September 20, 2016 at Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel. Rosary will be at 6:30 PM followed by a prayer service.

Pedro was born in Brady, Texas on February 23, 1929 to Antonio and Cruz Leyva Castro, the youngest of eleven children. He married the love of his life, Dolorez, on October 2, 1950. They were blessed with eight children. Pedro worked for Abilene ISD for 21 years before retiring.

He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings; and daughter, Rita Castro.

Survivors include wife of 66 years, Dolorez Castro; children, Pedro Castro Jr., Gloria Sepeda, Lydia Flores, Pat Castro, Ruben Castro, Larry Castro, and Robert Castro; 20 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and his dog, Pico.

Pallbearers are Phillip Hubbard, Isaac Flores, Tony Barrera Jr., Dylan Castro, Zac Garcia, and Brandon Garcia and Pete Castro III.

Honorary pallbearers are Pedro, Ruben, Larry, and Robert Castro.
