Phyllis Limas

Phyllis Carol Myers Limas was born on Dec 23, 1938 to George Clayton and Nadine Elizabeth Cummings Myers in Madison, West Virginia. She passed peacefully at home with her family on Nov 23, 2014. She graduated from Scott High School in 1956 and then attended Marshall University and majored in economics. Phyllis taught elementary education many years before becoming a telephone operator for ATT. She ventured to be a mail order bride, became a faithful pen pal, and then fell in love with her husband Jaime Limas. They finally met in person, became engaged, and married all in the same week on April 27, 1973.

She was active in St. Vincent Pallotti as a lecture and Eucharistic minister. She looked forward to the gatherings of Daughters of Mary, Catholic Daughters of America, Pioneers of America, Lady Knight and Cursillistas de Colors. Phyllis also was involved in the community with the Girls Scouts of America, the Boy Scouts of America, and Abilene Cactus Lions Club. She loved reading, camping and traveling, spending time with family, and sewing and matching colors and creating patterns for quilting. Her favorite TV shows were Jeopardy, Family Feud, and the Hallmark channel.
Phyllis is survived by her loving husband Jaime Limas of Abilene, her daughter AnnMarie Limas Rodriquez and David Rodriquez, Jr. of Abilene, and her son Jaime Stephan Limas of Denver, CO and Shanna Limas of San Antonio, TX. Her grandchildren Kimberly Renee Limas, Xavier Francisco Rodriquez, Jenna Kaylee Limas and Bishop Rion Limas will miss her dearly. Her dog BooBoo will miss being at her side.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her parentsinlaw Ricardo and Antonio Gamboa Limas, and her sisterinlaw Bertha Limas Saucedo of El Paso, TX. She is survived by her sister Georgia Myers Curry and David of Anna, TX and her brothers Danny Myers and Barbara of Plano, TX, and David Myers and Trudi of Racine, Minnesota. Also surviving Phyllis are her brotherinlaws Ricardo Limas and Martha of El Paso, TX, Eddie Limas and Nana of San Antonio, TX, Tony Limas and Licha of El Paso, TX, and sisterinlaws Sally Rodriguez of Mansfield, TX, Maggie Esparza of El Paso, TX, and Rose Acosta and Gilbert of El Paso, TX.

The visitation will be on Sunday evening at Elmwood Funeral Home from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Mass will be held on Monday at 9:30 a.m. at St. Vincent Pallotti and internment will be at the Texas Veterans Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Alzheimers Foundation of America.

Finally, the family would like to thank Nesa Love from Home Instead Senior Care and Hendricks Hospice Care for their dedication, professionalism, and kindness.
