Preston Patty

Preston Dale Patty, 66, passed away Thursday, August 6, 2009 at his home in Abilene. His funeral service with David Cason officiating will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, August 10 at Broadview Baptist Church, 2500 S. 27th. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 6:00 PM on Sunday at Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 HWY 277 South.

Preston was born on January 2, 1943 in Gainesville, Texas the son of James Berry Patty and Era Magdalene Janes Patty. He graduated from Madill High School in Madill, Oklahoma and attended Southeastern Oklahoma State University before being drafted into the U.S. Army from which he was later honorably discharged. He married Patsy Ruth Lovelady in Marlin, Texas on February 19, 1970. Preston worked as a press foreman for the Abilene Reporter News for over 30 years, retiring in 2005. He was currently working for the Abilene State Supported Living Center. He was a member of the Broadview Baptist Church where he attended the Agape II Sunday School Class.

Preston enjoyed camping and cooking and loved his family very much. He also enjoyed talking and keeping up with friends and family online.

Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Patsy Patty of Abilene; three daughters, Olivia June Tedford and husband Rodney of Abilene, April Lynn Shew and husband James of Stephenville and Kandi Patty of Abilene; Grandchildren, Michael Tedford, Brittany Pacheco and husband Dylan, Katie Schaffer and fianc Chase Williams, Tyler Schaffer and Caitlyn Shew; Great Grandchildren, Brandon Williams and Anessa Tedford and many special nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
