Ramona Banda, 67, passed away Sunday, May 27th at Hendrick Medical Center after a sudden illness. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, May 31st at St. Francis Catholic Church, 826 Cottonwood with interment following in Elmwood Memorial Park. Visitation is on Wednesday from 5:00 to 6:00 PM with Rosary beginning at 6:00 PM and Prayer Service at 6:45 PM in the Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel, 5750 HWY 277 South.
Mona was born on April 2, 1945 in Dallas the daughter of Gus Flores Sr. and Mary Holguin Flores. She graduated from North Dallas High School in 1963 and moved to Abilene at the age of 18 where she worked for Timex, Sunbeam Cookie Factory, Hendrick Hospital and Kmart. She was a faithful member of the St. Francis Catholic Church.
Monas number one passion was her family, even though she never had children of her own, she gave constant love and guidance to her many nieces and nephews. She enjoyed gardening and watching the Texas Rangers. Besides her husband of 32 years, Joe Banda, her second love was ARod of the New York Yankees and she was a huge Elvis fan.
Survivors include her husband Joe of Abilene her mother, Mary Flores of Abilene one sister, Eulalia Holguin Aurelio of Dallas 20 nieces and nephews, 30 great nieces and nephews and numerous cousins.
Her father and her brother, Gus Flores Jr. preceded her in death.
