Ray was born August 22, 1938 in Abilene along with his twin brother, Roy Davis of Merkel to L.C. (Red) Davis and Vera Smith Davis. Their mother passed away when they were 18 months and they were raised at the Hendrick Home for Children. After graduating from Abilene High School, Ray joined and faithfully served 4 years in the United States Navy. He married Kay Walker on April 1, 1967 and they were just 3 months shy of celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary. Born to their union were 3 sons; Jason, Justin, and Kevin.

Ray was a hard worker and always provided for his family. In 1970 while parking cars he drove a car off the 3rd story of the Citizens Bank building (Prosperity). While working for TX DOT for 28 years, he was in 3 accidents. After his retirement from the State of Texas he then worked at Power Shack gym for two years and then 8 more years for City of Abilene Airport in the parking garage.
He was an avid and very dedicated Texas Longhorns fan. He also loved Southern Gospel music and he and Kay attended a 3-day gospel singing in the park every August in Seminole, OK.

Ray had an outgoing personality with an infectious smile and never met a stranger. He was a faithful member of the Southside Church of God until his illness prevented him from attending services.

He was preceded in death by his father; mother; sister, Mary Jo Domeier of California; and Shirley Qualls of Odessa.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Kay Walker Davis; three sons and their families, Jason, Dana and Kylie of South Lyon, MI; Justin, Cne', Mckayla, Brooklyn and Cutter of Leander, TX; and Kevin, Chella, Austin, and Maddy of Carson City, NV; His twin brother, Roy Davis of Merkel, TX; Elder brother, L.C. Davis of Odessa, TX; Bill Davis of Odessa; Debbie Borron; many nieces and nephews; and a special grandson, Geoffrey Schoeffel.

The family would like to express special appreciation to his caregivers, Ken Brown and Dawn White; Hendrick Hospice Care, especially his nurse Jen Robinson and aid Mary Barrientos; and special supportive friends Scott and Tammy Ivy and Reba Boockholdt; also all the friends and loved ones who love and supported us during this time.
