The morning of May 4, 2021 before daybreak, Raymond Laverne Roberson, 77, rode off into the sunrise on his Goldwing to be with our Heavenly Father after a long battle with lung Cancer. He will be remembered always as a true friend and great man. It will never be too windy, too cold, too rainy or a mountain too high for him to ride for eternity.
Raymond was Born August 4, 1943 in Brownwood, Texas to Raymond Sr and Marie Roberson. In 1962, he married his high school sweetheart, Mary Frances Ross and on May 26, 2021 they would have celebrated 59 years of marriage. Raymond and Mary Frances owned and operated Roberson's Rent All from 1976 to 2000. During that time, they made lasting friendships. In 1996 Raymond became a loyal and faithful member of Alcoholics Anonymous and He dedicated his life to being a sponsor to many and a great listener.
His pleasure in life was cooking for his grandchildren, Rayce and Amanda. He specialized in chocolate pies and fudge.
Raymond started riding with his parents in 1956. In 1981 he bought his first Goldwing. He covered thousands of miles through 39 states. He especially enjoyed the trips he and Mary Frances took with Patsy and Terry Zimmerlee and Diane and Ron Miller. Raymond rode until the end.
Raymond was preceded in death by both of his parents.
He is survived by his loving wife, Mary Frances; one son, Randy Roberson and his wife Melinda of Abilene; one daughter, Marcy Roberson of Abilene; one grandson, Rayce Roberson and his wife Samantha; one granddaughter, Amanda Roberson; one brother, Kenneth Roberson and his wife Rossy of Christoval, Texas; and Several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be 5:00-7:00 PM, Friday, May 7, 2021 at Elmwood Funeral Home. A celebration of Raymond's life will be Saturday, May 8, 2021 at 2:00 PM. Burial will follow the service at Elmwood Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers donations may be sent St. Jude Hospital, (www.stjude.org) or your favorite charity.
