Rebecca Jo Becky Heatherly, 72, passed from this life into heaven on Sunday, October 13th at her home in Abilene. Her funeral service with Randy Becton and Ed Matthews officiating will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, October 17th at the Highland Church of Church of Christ, 425 Highland Avenue with interment following in the Reflection Garden at Elmwood Memorial Park. Visitation is from 5:00 to 7:00 PM on Wednesday at Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 HWY 277 South.
Becky was born in Ada, Oklahoma on December 31, 1940 the daughter of Darwin Hale Setliff and Rebecca Joshephine Briscoe Setliff. She graduated from Atoka High School in 1959, and attended Abilene Christian College for 2 years before transferring to the University of Texas where she received her degree in Elementary Education in 1966. Becky married her childhood sweetheart, Glenn Edward Heatherly on December 1, 1961 in Tucumcari, New Mexico.
Becky was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who dedicated her life to ministering to others and sharing the love of Christ and the promise of heaven with many people. She loved to sing praises and hymns and had sung with the A capella Chorus at ACU. She had a heart for special needs children and enjoyed decorating. She was a member of the Society for the Preservation of Quaint Old Homes SPQOH and was active in several Ladies Bible Study groups and prayer groups.
Survivors include her husband of 50 years, Glenn Edward Heatherly of Abilene son, Ronald Glenn Heatherly of Dallas her grandchildren who lovingly called her Nana Beck, Lacey Rebecca Heatherly of Plano and Charles Alden Heatherly of Franklin, Tennessee her sister, Meredith Carol Setliff Smartt and husband Claude Ernest Smartt of Ardmore, Oklahoma and their children, Rebecca Becky, John, David, Robert, and Rachel her brotherinlaw, Jim Lynn Heatherly and wife Sherrie Elaine Henderson Heatherly of Atoka, Oklahoma and their children, Brendan, Logan and Jenny her daughtersinlaw, Alice and Michelle uncle, Duane Setliff and many cousins, special prayer group members of 36 years and many sisters in Christ.
Becky was preceded in death by her son, Phillip Alden Heatherly in August of 2012, her parents, to whom she was a dedicated caregiver in their later years, her brother, Michael Darwin Setliff, her motherinlaw and fatherinlaw, John Edward Heatherly and Helen Ruth Partin Heatherly and many loved Setliff aunts and uncles.
