Rejino S. Castro, 94, died on Friday, May 23, 2008 at his residence.
Visitation for family and friends will be 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Monday, May 26, at Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 Hwy. 277 S. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 27 at Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Julian Garcia officiating; interment will follow in Elmwood Memorial Park, Garden of Ten Commandments.
Rejino was born on September 7, 1913 to Juan and Pomposoa Castro in Mexico. He married Ausencia D. Diaz and together they raised 14 children. He retired from the railroad in the late 50s and was a member of the Primera Baptist Church. He loved the Lord, music, fishing and family; especially chasing and tickling his grandkids.
He is survived by six sons, Ray, John, Ruben, Peter, Michael and David Castro; eight daughters, Natalia, Rebecca and Ester Castro, Marty Flores, Teddi Estrada, Janie Jaime, Mary Lim, and Barbara Garcia; sisters, Timothy Cortenez, Paula Ochoa and Clementina Lopez; 21 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife Ausencia Castro in 1997; brothers, Juan and Albino Castro; and sister, Margaret Martinez.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations to Primera Baptist Church, P.O. Box 322, Abilene, TX 79604.
