Rema Hancock Price
Rema was welcomed to heaven by her Lord, Jesus on Saturday, March 27, ending
a battle with Alzheimers disease. Rema was born on June 17, 1917 in Mineola, Texas to Bose Richardson Hancock and Ethal Catherine Tucker.
She completed high school and married William Andrew Price in 1934. They moved to Altus, Oklahoma where she worked in a physicians office, studied and passed the Registered XRay Technician exam. She and her husband and son moved to Abilene, Texas in 1951 where she worked as a Registered XRay Technician at Hendrick Memorial Hospital, Sweetwater Memorial Hospital, then for 7 years at the Abilene State School. She began working at Dyess Air Force Base Hospital in 1960, retiring from there in 1980.
She enjoyed visiting and having family visit, traveling, and water color painting. She won several Blue Ribbons and other awards for her paintings at the Taylor County Fair. She was an active member of Temple Baptist Church in Abilene for 7 years and then moved to Southwest Park Baptist Church where she taught a Sunday School class for more than 10 years. Shortly after her husband died in 1995, she moved to Alabama to be closer to her only son. She then moved to West Virginia, living there for her last 9 years. Rema is survived by her son and daughterinlaw, Floyd and Barbara Price of Florence, Alabama.
Visitation will be 1:00 PM, with her funeral service immediately following at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, April 1, 2010 at Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 Hwy 277 South.
