Rev. Shugart Jr.

Reverend John B. Shugart Jr., 96, passed away Friday, June 13, 2014 in Abilene.

Visitation will be 6:00 til 8:00 PM Sunday, June 15, 2014 at Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 US Hwy 277 South. Services will be 10:00 AM on Monday, June 16, 2014 at the Tye Baptist Church, 207 Morgan Street in Tye, Texas. Interment will follow the service at Tye Cemetery.

Reverend John was born May 31, 1918 in Sulphur Springs, Texas to John B. Shugart Sr. and Annie D. Hopper. He was a long time member of Tye Baptist Church. John was a Baptist Minister and served as a pastor for many years in Texas, Arizona and Utah. During his ministry he was involved in efforts to build orphanages in Mexico. He had a missionary heart.

John is survived by his wife Margaret Pace Shugart, his children: Jo Ellen Barnhouse Larry of Abilene, Ann Langford Dick of Pelham, Alabama, Barbara McGraw John of McConnellsburg, PA, Gary Shugart Ida of Euless, Texas grandchildren, Annette Barnhouse Baldwin, Brenda Barnhouse Clump, John Barnhouse, Mary Barnhouse Gonzalez, Lowe Spence, Greg Spence, Nicholas Langford, Jacob Langford, Kim Wiginton, Ken Langford, John McGraw, Matt McGraw, Brad Wilson, Jason Wilson, Allison Shugart Carnahan, and Andra Shugart 16 great grandchildren.

John was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and two sisters, one grandson and one greatgrandson.
