Rex Moore, 65, passed away Tuesday, October 15, 2013 in Abilene. His funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, October 19th in the Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel, 5750 HWY 277 South with burial following in Elmwood Memorial Park. Visitation is from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Friday at Elmwood Funeral Home.
Rex was born on July 26, 1948 in Kansas City, Missouri. He graduated from Rosedale High School in Kansas City, Kansas and attended McMurry College. After high school, he turned down a Hallmark art scholarship to join the Air Force. Throughout his Air Force career, Rex worked as a fire fighter and an Environmental Health Specialist. He retired as a MSgt after tours in Turkey, Alaska, Texas, Oklahoma and England. Rex worked as an Environmental Health Specialist for the State of Texas for 5 years. He was an avid fan of McMurry sports, the Dallas Cowboys and the Texas Rangers and also enjoyed fishing and restoring furniture.
Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Judy Moore of Abilene his son, Brian Moore and wife Misty of Abilene his grandchildren, Bryson, Brandon and Brian Moore brothers, John Barry Moore of Bethany, Missouri, Bill Moore and wife Margie of Kansas City, Kansas, and Mike Moore of Rantoul, Kansas two sisters, Carolyn Miller and husband Leroy and Kathy Kefer all of Blythedale, Missouri and numerous nieces and nephews.
His parents, Noel Ogden Moore and Martha Ellen Greenall Moore preceded her in death.
