Richard Fitzgerald

With his daughters at his side, Richard Louis Butch Fitzgerald passed away Sunday morning, September 13th at his home after a valiant battle with cancer.

Butch was born March 3, 1944 in Colorado City, TX to Louis H. and Margurite Fitzgerald. He has been a resident of Abilene for more than 30 years and had been employed by Reeders Automotive for over 29 years. He was known to many as Pop. He had a love for his family, the lake, boats and cars, especially corvettes. He was involved in the local athletics scene as a board member of Raiders Football.

Richard was preceded in Death by, his parents; Louis Margurite Fitzgerald; one sister; Mercedes Barbee; one daughter, Debra Ann Fitzgerald; and a infant Grandson, Jacob Scott ODell

He is Survived by, three Daughters, Melissa Lyle of Cedar Park, TX, Annette McDonald husband Jimmy, of Tuscola, TX, Robin Fitzgerald and Monte Joe of Abilene, TX; grandchildren, Nathan Katelyn Lyle of Cedar Park, TX, Brandon Josh ODell of Abilene, TX, Meagan ODell of Tuscola, TX, Garrett McDonald of San Angelo, TX, Austin McDonald of Tuscola, TX, Lorenzo Aziah Joe Brayden Grubbs-Joe of Abilene, TX

The family wishes to express deep gratitude to the extended family at Reeders Auto Supply for their generosity and understanding during his illness. We also would like to extend many thanks to our friends, family and neighbors with the many thoughts, prayers, food, and general kindness during this difficult time.
