Robert H. Askins, 72, passed away Thursday, July 7, 2011 in Abilene. His funeral service will be held at 3:30 PM on Monday, July 11, 2011 in the Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel, 5750 HWY 277 South with burial following in Elmwood Memorial Park.
Robert was born the son of E.J. and Geneva Askins on January 7, 1939 in Brenham where he grew up and graduated high school. He received his BS in Sociology from Sam Houston State College in 1960 and his Law Degree from the University of Houston School of Law in 1966. He was a member of the State Bar Association of Texas. Bob had a long successful career as a title attorney, working 10 years for Collins Abstract Title Company and several years with Alliance Title Abstract Company.
Bob was a loving husband, father and a very fun grandfather.
Survivors include his wife Deanna of Abilene three daughters, Debbie Owens and husband Rodney, Barbara Richert and husband Ron, and Lisa Lewis and husband Quinn all of Abilene step sons, Joe Collins and wife Beverly of Whitesboro and Robert Collins and wife Rene of Conroe brother, Knox Askins and wife Ann of La Porte sisterinlaw, Lois Helweg of Abilene nephews, Jimmy Askins and wife Wendy, Clark Askins and wife Shawna, and Paul Askins nieces, Diane Zachary and husband Earl, Suzanne Newfield and Sally Twiner 7 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and several great nephews and nieces.
Memorial donations are suggested to the American Heart Association.
