Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, December 30, 2020 at 2:00 pm at Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel, 5750 Hwy 277 South, Abilene, Texas. The Viewing will be prior to the service from 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm at Elmwood Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery.

Bobby was born in Karnes City, Texas on May 28, 1942 to Mrs. Julia Conner Bynum. He started his career as a cook when he was 13 at the cactus hotel in San Angelo. He moved to Abilene and work at the Country Cub, and before retiring he worked at the Huddle House for 30 years.

He was preceded in death by his mother Julia Bynum, daughter Leticia Hopkins and granddaughter Hannah Mansaray.

He is survived by his wife Susan Hopkins, sons, Robert Hopkins, Don Hopkins, and Brandon Gaines. Three daughters, Ruby Hopkins, Julia Hopkins, and Vercie Mansaray. He is also provided by grandchildren Safula Cate, Cassandra Washington, VerNicia Mansaray, Brianna Gains, Caelyn Gains, Chaync Hopkins, Dacqueri Hopkins, Starla Odom, QeYante Hopkins, Isidoro Garcia and numerous great- grandchildren.

Bobby his smile lit up a room. He gave the best big hugs. He made you feel safe. He was a loving, caring and giving man. Bobby loved his family and was always ready to help.
He enjoyed his career as a cook. He was very good at his job. His co-workers respected him and loved him.

Bobby fought a battle with Dementia, he gave it his all. He is in heaven making everyone smile and giving his big hugs. Bobby will be missed dearly by his family and friends.
