Robert was born on November 29, 1938 to the late Ronald Milton Hunter and Viola Jean Graham in Detroit, Michigan. As he would say "I grew up on the south side of Detroit". He served his country in the Army in the Korean War, keeping most of those stories to himself. Robert was a hard worker and worked many different jobs to put food on the table and a roof over the families head. He did not have a formal education but loved to learn, many things self-taught, but as the family would say, "unfortunately he was a Democrat". Robert had a green thumb, love to garden and grow things. He was dedicated to volunteering and worked at the senior center in Alabama keeping their community garden going and loved to play bingo. He loved his family and will be dearly missed by those blessed to have been loved by him.
Robert is survived by his children, Norma Jean Hunter, Rex Michael Hunter, Wayne Allen Hunter, Laura Holbrook and husband David Allan, Dawn Renee Jackson and husband Michael, Shawn Michael Hunter and wife Tonya Lee, Shannon Colleen Hunter; grandchildren, Buddy Ray Holbrook, Robert Lynn Holbrook, Stephen Allen Holbrook, Philip Jackson, Ryan Jackson, Alex Jackson, Benjamin Jackson, Ashley Hunter, Audrey Michelle Hunter, Aric Michael Hunter, Aiden Lee Hunter; great grandchild, Elijah Kyle Jackson; sister, Sandra Combs and husband David.
