Robert R.D King Sr., 87, passed away Tuesday, March 4, 2014 in Abilene. His graveside service will be held at 12:30 PM on Saturday, March 8th in the Garden of Memories at Elmwood Memorial Park. Visitation is from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Friday at Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 HWY 277 South.
R.D. was born on July 7, 1926 and grew up in Greenville, South Carolina. He worked a total of 25 years serving our country in the military, ten years being with the U.S. Navy starting at the age of 16 and fifteen years with the U.S. Air Force as a Security Police officer. R.D. was an active person all of his life, he loved playing golf and bowling, once having a 200 bowling average, and was always handy to have around the house to fix things and keep up with honey dos.
Survivors include his wife, Cruzita Lou King of Abilene his children, Robin Ann King England of Abilene, Sara Jane Brady and husband Jack of Marion, Indiana, and Robert King Jr. of Abilene step children, Debra Studebaker and husband David of Austin, and Charles Palm and wife Marie of Tucson, Arizona four grandchildren, Michael Paul England, Jill Kacher, Scott Brady and Travis Brady stepgrandchildren, Brian, Brandon and Jennifer Studebaker, and Marcus Palm 13 great grandchildren his siblings, Edna Cisson, Velma Montieth, Neil Manley, Jerry King, and Jannett Petterson and one aunt, Fanny Shepperd.
