Robert Paul Maiville passed away March 3, 2018. A visitation will be 5:00PM - 7:00PM, Tuesday March 6, 2018 at Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 Hwy 277 South, Abilene, Texas. A Funeral Service will be 2:00 PM, Wednesday, March 7, 2018 at Cowboy Heritage Church 8468 County Rd 112 N, Clyde, Texas. Interment will follow the service in Elmwood Memorial Park.
Robert was born May 18, 1934 in Luther, Michigan to George Hermandez Maiville II and Lydia Nelson. He grew up as a farm boy and as a young man he joined the Army and then the United States Air Force and served his country for more than 20 years. His service included the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He married the love of his life, Shirley, on July 22, 1959 and started a family. He loved Shirley with every fiber of his being and family was important to him. He taught his family to always do their best. He loved animals and nature. He enjoyed working on his blue bonnets, garden and rose bushes which were named after his children. He appreciated and enjoyed the Clyde Cowboy Church. He was the leader in the family. He was very loved and is greatly missed.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, George; his son-in-law, Michael; daughter, Carrie Jean great-granddaughter, Makayla; and, grandson-in-law, Jesse.
Robert is survived by his wife, Shirley Maiville; his children, Susan Boyd, Laverne Marks (Steven), Aaron Maiville (Sharon), Roxanna Strieby (Carl); his grandchildren, Erica Herwig (Ralph), Jason Lodzinski (Alanna), Amanda Rongey (Jesse), Joey Maiville, Mary Delpilar (Donald), Matthew Strieby (Danielle) and Tara Badorf (Will); great grandchildren, Makayla, Wendi, Henry, Jaedon, Connor, Braylen, Daphne, Ollie, Noah, Hayden, Donna, and Maria; great-great grandchildren, Gracie and Weston; sister in law, Jean (George) and Philip (Barbara).
