Robert E. Shivers passed away on March 11, 2025, peacefully with his family, after a long battle with cancer. He fought valiantly and now he has received his victory in his heavenly home.
Robert was 81 years old. He was born on September 16, 1943, in Stockton, California. He grew up in Porterville, California, and graduated from Porterville High School. He and his wife, Jeannie F. Shivers, lived in Abilene, Texas. They were married for 56 years. Their love and commitment to each other was an inspiration to their family. They faced many challenges in their life but always faced them together, and together they built a beautiful, loving family.
Robert is survived by his wife, Jeannie Shivers; a sister, Della Gambrell, of Porterville, California; three daughters, Elise Chenowith of Abilene, Texas, Kimberly Herrera of Henderson, Nevada and Melissa Buhrle of Salina, Kansas and their husbands David Chenowith, Philip Herrera and Berkley Buhrle, which were like sons to him. Robert to his joy had 13 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; and many bonus grandkids. He loved them all and was a huge influence on each of them. He had many lifelong friends whom he cherished.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Pearl Shivers; and three sisters, Wanda Pruitt, Betty Plumber and Bonnie Shivers.
Robert was a proud Army Veteran and served in the Vietnam War.
Robert's greatest joy was his faith, his family and his friends. He accomplished much in his life but nothing compared to the joy and love he found in his faith, his family and his friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held in Porterville, California, at the Veteran's Memorial Building on July 11, 2025 at 2:00 P.M. The Shivers family invite all friends and family to come and celebrate the beautiful life he lived.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you donate in Bob's honor to Tunnel to Towers Foundation.
