Roberta Newsome

Roberta Teston Newsome, 93, formerly of Abilene, died Saturday, September 16th, at Fountain View Assisted Living in Dallas, Texas. She was born March 11, 1924, in Hamby, Texas, one of eleven children of George and Virgie Howell Teston.

She attended Captola High School and married John H. Newsome on December 4, 1942. They moved to Abilene in 1947, and resided there until 2013. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and a devoted sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John Newsome; four brothers, Leonard, Glen, Jerry, and Kenneth Teston; five sisters, Wilba Walker, Lois Richardson, Loreta Lambert, Doris Musick, and Dorothy Tollison; and a granddaughter, Katherine Carrie Aldredge.

She is survived by a daughter, Stormy Newsome Aldredge and her husband John Aldredge of Dallas; a granddaughter, Robin Aldredge Kraase and her husband Mike Kraase; a great-grandson, Logan Michael Kraase; a great-granddaughter, Charlotte Katherine Kraase all of Dallas; and a sister, Mildred Chaney of Abilene.

Graveside services will be Saturday, September 23rd, 1 pm at Elmwood Funeral Home and Memorial Park; 5750 Hwy 277 South; Abilene, Texas.
A visitation will follow the service.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers contributions be made to Hendrick Home for Children; 2758 Jeanette St.; Abilene, TX 79602.
