Roma Yarbrough McIntyre, 98, passed away Monday, October 29, 2012 in Lake Jackson, TX. Graveside funeral service was held at 1:00 PM, Thursday, November 1, 2012 at Elmwood Memorial Park in Abilene, TX with Reverend Rodney Watson officiating.
Roma was born September 18, 1914, north of Putnam, TX to Jim and Veda Yarbrough. She graduated from Putnam High School, attended Texas Tech in Lubbock, TX, and later graduated from McMurry University. Roma was a public school teacher for 27 years at Sweetwater, Oplin, and Putnam. While teaching at Oplin she met and married John McIntyre on January 14, 1939. She was lifelong Baptist and a member of Lytle South Baptist Church in Abilene.
Roma was predeceased by her husband John of 64 years, her parents and one sister.
She is survived by three nephews, James Carter and his wife Louise of Lake Jackson, TX, R.V. Buster Mc Niece of Pasadena, TX, Jim McNiece and wife Rachel of Abilene, TX one nieces Sandra Holmes and husband Jack of Boerne, TX great niece Lynn Crump and husband James of Jacksonville, TX several great nieces, nephews and many friends.
The family would like to express their thanks to the staff of Carriage Inn and the wonderful friends Roma enjoyed during her residency at Carriage Inn.
