Ronald Wayne Peoples, 72, died Friday, July 17, 2020.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Patsy Peoples and his youngest son, Eric Peoples.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Beverly Peoples; his son, Jeff Peoples; his daughter Mandy Benedix and her husband, Curt Benedix; his 3 grandchildren, Makenzie, Madison and Brady; his great granddaughter Avery and his 2 sisters, Sandy West and Karen Choat as well as a number of other relatives and friends.
Ron was born in Abilene, Texas in 1947. He graduated from Abilene High School and then enlisted and served in the United States Navy where he lost his eye in a training exercise and was then honorably discharged. He then attended McMurry University where he was a member of the golf team. He worked for over 20 years for the United States Post Office.
Known for his light hearted attitude, joyful disposition, and easy going nature, Ron never met a stranger. If he received a gift from someone, he wanted everyone around him to “try it out.” He was a loyal fan of the Texas Rangers and the Dallas Cowboys and he loved spending time on the golf course.
Even in his final years that were spent at Coronado Nursing Center, he worked his way into the hearts of all the nurses and staff.
When asked a few days before his death if he was “right with the Lord,” he responded with a joyful, “oh yeah!”
What a day of rejoicing, when he was reunited with his Lord and Savior, his mom and dad and his baby boy. His life was not always easy, but he certainly knew how to smile through the storms and celebrate the rainbows.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 21 from 2-4pm at Elmwood Funeral Home and Memorial Park in Abilene, Texas.
