Rosemary Riojas was born June 21, 1960 in Topeka, KS to Tommie and Rachel Riojas. The second of seven children, she is known for her compassionate nurturing and maternal instinct. After moving to Abilene in the 70's, she began to explore music and reading. While at Abilene High, she played clarinet in the band and performed in numerous musicals. Upon graduation, she enrolled in American Commercial College where she studied to become an Executive Administrative Assistant. Her professional pursuits kept her in Abilene throughout her adulthood; however, on a personal note, Rosemary's heart was always intertwined with her family, regardless of their location. Her family was her life, yet above all, she loved Jesus.
Rosemary was a cutting-edge fashionista desiring to live with class and distinction. She always enjoyed music, movies and the company of her beloved pet shih tzu's - Nikki and Prince. Her contributions of love to family and friends did not cease as she battled chronic illness in her later years. She could always be found with humble, optimistic eyes, a caring smile, an inclusive heart and an infectious laugh. Having no children of her own, she fully embraced her role as Super-Aunt. Rosemary's time, on earth, expired October 6, 2023, when she slipped away during her sleep.
Rosemary is survived by five siblings: Elizabeth, Eric (Lori), Adam, and Deloris Riojas - all of Abilene, TX; and Cinnamon (Ronnie) Moore of Colorado Springs, CO; Eight nieces and nephews: Sloan (Andrew) Gonzales of Colorado Springs, Brandi (Andrew) Pickett of Carrolton, TX; Casey Riojas of Euless, TX; Cinnamon Noelle Moore of Kansas City, MO; Ronando Moore II of Austin, TX; Tristan Riojas of Abilene; Veronica (Alfonso) Nunez of Dallas, TX; and Thaddeus Moore of Austin; and three great-nephews: Rowen Gonzales, Ezequiel (Zeke) Nunez, and River Gonzales. Through the years, she maintained heart ties with Dasha Robinson-Beavers, and Dwight Robinson Jr., niece and nephew from a prior marriage.
Rosemary was preceded in death by her father Tommie (2002), her mother Rachel (2014), her brother Rory (2018), and her niece Samantha Little (2021). She will be forever missed by her family and friends. May she live eternally with her Savior, and in our hearts.
A funeral service will be held 2:00 PM on Monday October 16, 2023, in the Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel, 5750 Hwy 277 South.
