Rowland Canon Ball Allen, 82, passed away Saturday, June 15, 2013 in Abilene. His funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, June 18th in the Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel, 5750 HWY 277 South with interment following at the Evergreen Cemetery in Ballinger.
Rowland was born in Norton, Texas on October 11, 1930 the son of Robert H. and Ina B. Ford Allen. He married Mary Jo Wright on September 8, 1951 in Ballinger. He worked as a truck driver for Hack Drilling Company in Abilene for 33 years and the Abilene Fire Department for 26 years where he worked with the Rescue Van and the Scuba Diving teams. Canon Ball loved riding motorcycles, making knives and was always the jokester at home and around the fire department.
Survivors include his children, David Allen and wife Tawana of Longview, Richard Allen and wife Betty of Abilene, and Diane Partridge and husband Toby of Midland grandchildren, Amber Stalvey Damon, Brandy Scott Will, Randi Jo Allen, Justin Allen, Magan Warren Hunter, Tara Partridge and Trevor Partridge six great grandchildren and one brother, Gary Allen of Utah.
His wife, Mary Jo, his parents, and his sister, Doris Daniel preceded him in death.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested to the Alzheimers Association, PO Box 3344, Abilene, Texas 79604.
