Royce Smith

Royce W. Smith, 80, of Abilene passed away Tuesday, March 3, 2015 in Abilene.

A funeral service will be held Friday, March 6, at 10 AM at Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Elmwood Memorial Park. Visitation will be Thursday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home.

Royce was born on July 19, 1934 in Santa Anna, TX to the late Charlie L. Smith and Dovie Mitchell Smith. Upon graduation from High School Royce enlisted and served 4 years in the Air Force. He married Johnnie Mae Huron in 1962 in Abilene. She preceded him in death in February 2007. Royce worked for AEP, formerly West Texas Utilities as a substation supervisor for over 35 years. After retirement Royce stayed active and enjoyed yard work and tinkering in his shop. He loved his family and will be missed.

Royce is survived by his children, Sharon D. Haley of Buffalo, Gap, Susan Dunn and husband Robert of Spring, TX, Michael Merritt and wife Cheri of Baytown, TX, David Willis of Shepard, TX; 7 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren.
