Ruby Parker

Ruby Lee Parker, 92, passed away Wednesday, September 24, 2014 in Abilene. Funeral service will be 2:00 PM, Saturday, September 27, 2014 in the Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow the service in Elmwood Memorial Park.

Ruby was born March 13, 1922 in Montague County, TX to William and Perrie Price. She graduated high school in Hollis, Oklahoma. She married Dolan Parker in 1944, and they enjoyed 64 years of marriage until his passing in 2008. After being married they began their family and worked the farm for ten years. They purchased Parker Furniture Store in Hollis and operated it for close to forty years before retiring to Lake Leon in Eastland, Texas. In 1999 after ten years at the lake, they relocated one final time to Abilene.

Ruby loved the Lord and was a member of Pioneer Drive Baptist Church. In her younger years she was very active in church and taught numerous Sunday School classes. She loved her family passionately and was very dedicated to them. She was a great mother and grandmother who did all she could to take care of her family.
She is survived by her two daughters, Charlsa Haynes and husband Perry, Sue Strickland and husband John Penner four grandchildren, Melissa Bauer and husband Larry, Michele Haynes and husband Cody Garrison, Matt Haynes, and Carly Andrews and husband Chris and six great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dolan grandson, Michael Haynes and her parents.
