Rusty Harris, 72, passed away Thursday, November 18, 2021 in Aspermont, Texas. A come and go celebration of life to share stories will be held 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM, Monday, November 29, 2021 in the Elmwood Funeral Home Family Center, 5750 Hwy 277 South, Abilene, Texas.
Rusty was born June 1, 1949 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Robert and LouElla Harris. Rusty grew up in Lubbock, Texas and eventually settling in Aspermont, Texas. He served his community as a Deputy and loved being a part of law enforcement. He was a true cowboy and he even earned the name Cowboy Grandpa from his granddaughters. Rusty was a proud active member of The Masons. He met the love of his life Ann Crenshaw and the couple loved to travel. They made their way to Hawaii three different times, even joking that would be where they retired. Rusty loved football, the Dallas Cowboys, and music but most of all he loved his family. His love and sense of adventure will be carried on through generations to come.
He is preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, Ann Crenshaw.
Rusty is survived by his daughter, Ellen Gutierrez; two granddaughters, Alexandria Gutierrez, and Isabella Gutierrez; one great grandson, Carter Lee Garza; his sister, Roberta McDonald; two nephews, Aaron McDonald, and Curtis McDonald; and other family members and friends.
