Ruth Arauza

April 4, 1929 — November 28, 2021

Ruth Gonzalez Arauza was called to her heavenly home on November 28, 2021. She was surrounded by her family when she peacefully walked into the arms of Jesus.
Ruth was born April 4, 1929 in Slaton, TX, to Eduardo Parras Gonzalez and Andrea Saenz Gonzalez. She began her career as hair stylist in 1949 at Lubbock Beauty College, Lubbock TX,

Ruth was blessed with a beautiful God given voice and sang for many weddings and church revivals. One of her fondest memories was when she was invited to sing at Iglesia Metodista in Lubbock, where she met the pastor of the church, Isabel 'Easy' Arauza. He was love smitten when he saw her and heard her sing. He was disappointed when she told him she was engaged. Within his heart he knew she was meant for him and persuaded her to go out to dinner with him that evening.

Ruth assumed they were going to get hamburgers, when he arrived at her doorstep on his bicycle and was surprised when he carried her to a fancy restaurant, where they both shared a delicious steak. Their friendship continued until they both realized they were falling in love. Needless to say, she broke off her engagement.

Ruth and Easy were married June 11, 1951 in Snyder, TX. They moved to Abilene where they were happily married for 55 years until his passing. Her occupation as a hair stylist was not a job but a ministry. She enjoyed making women feel beautiful and taking every opportunity in telling them how lovely they were in God's eyes. Ruth shared ownership with her daughter, Debra at Tiffany's Hair Salon for 35 years until her retirement. She spent many hours during the day growing and grooming her rose garden, and enjoyed sharing her flowers with friends and neighbors.

Preceding her death are her husband, her parents, her brothers, Adam, Hiram, Raul, Ray, Gregorio, David, Daniel, Ismael, and two sisters Juanita Cadena, and Eva Morin.
Surviving members of her family are Andrea Townsend (Dennis) of Benbrook, TX, Debra Wadley (Tommy) of Abilene, TX, and Ike Arauza (Kim) of Abilene, TX. Seven grandchildren, Javan Townsend, Adrienne Harris, Tiffany Wheeler, Tevyan Wadley, Taryn Smith, Kalen Feldman, Ryan Arauza, and ten great-grandchildren, one great-great granddaughter and numerous nieces and nephews.
