Ruth Howard

Ruth Howard went to be with her Lord Tuesday September 11, 2018. A graveside service will be held 3:00 PM Saturday, September 15, 2018 at Elmwood Memorial Park, 5750 Hwy 277 South under the direction of Elmwood Funeral Home.

Ruth was born on November 19, 1934 in Abilene, Texas to the late Charles and Cora Goyne Askins. She married the love of her life R.B Howard on March 12, 1954 in Abilene, Texas. She was witty with a wonderful sense of humor. She loved to bake and was known for her homemade rolls, no one made Thanksgiving and Christmas like she did. Ruth loved to have all the kids and grandkids home for the holidays and always made it special. She also loved her Gospel music and was a very spiritual woman. Ruth loved to help people out that needed her in her neighborhood. She was much loved and will be dearly missed.

Ruth is preceded in death by her parents, Charles Marvin Askins and Cora Mae Askins; her husband of 61 years, R B Howard; two brothers, Leonard Askins and wife Geneva and Charles Wayne Askins; her niece, June Key; and her nephew, Kenneth Askins.

She is survived by her three children, Russell Howard, Vicky Howard, and Ricky Howard; her four granddaughters, Misty Jackson and husband Glenn, Tiffany Conder and husband Micah, Chelsea Howard-Block, and Zoë Howard; great grandchildren, Brendan Jackson, Ethan Jackson, and Talen Conder; two nieces, Judy Gray, and Cindy Hossner; and two nephews, Charles Askins, and Stanley Key.

The family would like to thank the ER doctor at Hendrick Medical Center, Dr. Rossettie; RN nurses, Laura Adams, and Missy; Respiratory Therapist, Michael Procopio; and many others. She had the most compassionate individuals trying to save her life and we are thankful she was so cared for.
