Ruth Wood

Ruth Marie Wood, 77, passed away on Friday, December 4, 2009 in Abilene. Her graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, December 10, 2009 at Elmwood Memorial Park, Garden of Hope. Arrangements are under the direction of Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 Hwy 277 South.

Ruth was born on December 31, 1931 in Lead, South Dakota to Gilbert and Beatrice Shields Rundell. She was born the fourth of six children. She attended and graduated high school in Redding, CA. On February 2, 1963 she married Albert Wood and enjoyed 32 years of marriage until his passing in 1995. Soon after his passing she moved to Abilene in order to be closer to her family. She enjoyed crocheting, tending to her flower garden, reading, sewing, baking, and traveling. She will be greatly missed by all her family and friends.

Ruth is survived by her children, Robert Wendt and wife Linda of Leesburg, GA, Linda Stanfill and husband Terry of Saginaw, TX, Joy Caudill and husband Michael of Belfair, WA, and Alma Wood of Abilene, TX; Eleven grandchildren, Kristy, Shannon, Terri-Jo, Shelby, Leslie, Christopher, Raina, Joel, Holli, Marissa, and Kaitlyn; nineteen great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and great friends.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Dr. Thorp and Dr. Calvo for their excellent care of our MotherGrandmother.
