Ruthie Earlene Nanny Hollowell, 92, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on Friday, April 3, 2009. Her funeral service, officiated by Reverend David Cason, will be 11:00 AM, Monday, April 6, 2009 at Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 Hwy 277 South with interment in Elmwood Memorial Park

Ruthie was born November 13, 1916 in Ovalo, Texas to Arthur and Martha Smith and was a lifelong resident of Taylor County. She married Carl Hollowell on November 20, 1934 in Abilene, Texas.

Ruthie is survived by four sons, Carl Hollowell and wife Markey of Kerrville, Fred Hollowell and wife Tina of Round Rock, Donald Hollowell, Tommy Hollowell and wife Sandra; one daughter, Ruthie Raughton and husband Allen of Abilene; fourteen grandchildren, Debbie Taylor, Dale Daniel, Jimmy Hollowell, Vickie Blakeney, Carla Winston, Keli Hollowell, Pam Hollowell, Felicia West, Teri Balich, Dawn Brown, Denise Almandarez, Tommy Hollowell, Toni Stockton, Katrice Smith; thirty-one great grandchildren; eleven great-great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Ruthie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Carl Grandad Hollowell; a daughter, Martha Mott; two grandsons, Bobby Hollowell and Donald Mott; two great-grandsons, Larry West and Christopher Taylor; one sister, Ardell Tally and two brothers, A.E. and Ira Smith.

Pallbearers will be Jimmy Hollowell, Dale Daniel, Kenneth Blakeney, Randy Martinez, Tommy Hollowell and Button West.
