Salvador C. Moreno, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on December 5, 2024, just days shy of his 81st birthday. Born on December 10, 1943, Salvador lived a life marked by dedication, hard work, and an unwavering commitment to his family and community.
Salvador was a man who found joy in the simple pleasures of life, particularly his love for farming and his cherished John Deere tractor. His passion for the land was a testament to his deep connection with nature and his appreciation for the fruits of hard labor. This love for farming was not just a hobby but a way of life that he embraced wholeheartedly.
He began his professional journey at West Texas Utilities (WTU), where he started in maintenance and, through perseverance and skill, rose to the position of Control Room Operator. Salvador's career at WTU was a reflection of his work ethic and determination, qualities that he carried with him throughout his life. After retiring from WTU, he continued to serve his community by working with Global Samaritan, an organization dedicated to helping those in need. His work there was a natural extension of his generous spirit and desire to make a positive impact on the world around him.
Salvador's personal life was equally fulfilling. He was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Juanita Moreno, with whom he shared 63 wonderful years of marriage. Their union was a testament to enduring love and partnership, and together they built a family that was the center of Salvador's world. He is survived by his wife Juanita and their four children: Ray Moreno, Rene Moreno, Rita Stone, and Martha Diaz (husband Severo). Salvador's legacy extends to his six grandchildren—Michelle Moreno, David Moreno, Christopher Ruelas, Alyssa Ruelas, Starla Patetta, and Brandon Luján—and eight great-grandchildren—Isaiah Ruelas, Gage Pennell, Corbin Moreno, Ava Patetta, Eli Patetta, Gabriella Ruelas, Jack Pennell, and Arabella Dundore who were his pride and joy. He is also survived by his brother Ramon Moreno (Olga) and numerous nephews and one niece Norma Johnson. He is preceded in death by his father Gregorio Moreno, mother Teresa Moreno, brother Gregorio Moreno Jr. and sister Elena Moreno.
Salvador was known for his generous heart and welcoming nature. He was a man who would give the shirt off his back to help someone in need and always opened his home to friends and family alike. His kindness and hospitality left a lasting impression on all who knew him, and his home was a place of warmth and comfort.
As a family man, Salvador ensured that his loved ones were always cared for, providing them with everything they needed. His dedication to his family was unwavering, and he took great pride in their achievements and happiness. Salvador's legacy is one of love, generosity, and hard work, values that he instilled in his children and grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Michelle Moreno, David Moreno, Chris Ruelas, Adam Moreno, Ramon Moreno and Brandon Luján.
Salvador C. Moreno will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His life was a testament to the power of love, dedication, and community service. As we remember Salvador, we celebrate a life well-lived and a man who left an indelible mark on the hearts of those he touched. His memory will live on in the stories shared by his family and friends, and in the values he imparted to future generations.
