Graveside Services will be held on Thursday, November 5, 2020 at the Texas State Veteran Cemetery 7457 W. Lake Road, Abilene, Texas. Visitation, Wednesday, November 4, 2020 from 4:00pm – 6:00pm at Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 Hwy 277 South, Abilene, Texas.

On February 18, 1946, Sam Stevenson Jr. was born to Sam Stevenson Sr. and Julia Stevenson in Sweetwater, Tx. He has 3 brothers and 5 sisters.
Sam attended Woodson High School in Abilene, TX. There Sam played football and basketball at which he had achieved many athletic accomplishments.
Sam professed his faith in Christ at an early age in his life, he stood by his confession until God called him home on October 24, 2020. Sam joined the United States Air Force in 1965 and retired after 25 years of service in November 1988. He was a Security Police Specialist for 4 years and Reprographics Manager for 21 years. During his time in the United States Air Force Sam received several metals the National Defense Service Metal, Air Force Commendation Metal and several others.
Sam was proceeded in death by his father Sam Stevenson Sr., brothers Bobby Stevenson, and Howard Stevenson, sisters, Joyce Harness, and Mary Ann Stevenson. His late wife Joan Marie Coffee.
He leaves to mourn his loving mother Mrs. Julia Taylor (Abilene, TX) his brothers Billy Stevenson (Jan) and Shane Stevenson (Lynee). His sisters Zetta Lise, Cynthia Washington (Alvin) and Sandra Scruggs (Willie).
He leaves to cherish in his loving memory his wife Barbara Ann Stevenson (Niceville, Fl) of 45 years. his children Eric Stevenson (Karon), Tammy Stevenson, Tyra Stevenson and Terrance Stevenson Sr. (Jaimie) and two step daughters Karen Dowdy (Allen) and Marsha Sumner Thompson (Robert). 12 grandchildren Morgan Payne, Meagan Payne, Lace Stevenson, Mikayla Stevenson, Melena Stevenson, Courtney Lockridge, Brittany Thompson, Brian Thompson, Angie Day, Chris Day, Terrance Stevenson Jr. and Stephanie Johnson and a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, family, and friends that loved him deeply.
