Sami Obets

Sami L. Obets, 78, of Abilene passed away Monday August 11, 2014 in Abilene.

A graveside service will be held Friday August 15 at 10:00 AM at Elmwood Memorial Park and is under the direction of Elmwood Funeral Home. Visitation will be Thursday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home.

Sami was born on February 9, 1936 to the late Samuel Sparks and Madalyn Brown in Stephenville, Texas. She married Richard C. Obets on December 29, 1955 in Alice, Texas. He preceded her in death on May 9, 2006. Sami early on was a homemaker, until she went to work at State Farm Insurance as an office manager, where she worked for 20 plus years until her retirement. She was very active in the community and was a past president of the NCO wives club and a Red Cross volunteer. Sami was a member of Pioneer Drive Baptist Church.

Sami is survived by her daughter Carolyn Wilson of Abilene grandchildren, Richard Wilson and wife Kirby of Abilene, Kristin Wilson of Abilene, Kaitlyn Smith and husband Aaron of England sisters, Carole Sutherland and husband Tucker of San Antonio, Mary Anne Hale and husband Hale of Houston many nieces, nephews and dear friends.
