Sammy was born on January 28, 1953, in Winters, TX, to the late Adam Melendez Flores and Pilar Arispe Flores. He married Karla Jean Schmidt on August 7, 1971, in Abilene, TX at Zion Lutheran Church. Sammy worked for 36 years as a lineman for AEP Electric until his retirement.
He was a faithful member of Our Savior Lutheran Church and loved the Lord with all of his heart. Sammy cherished his family. Everything he did, he did for his wife, kids and grandkids. Time spent with family and friends always made him happy. He consistently had a joke or antic which would make everyone around him laugh. Sammy attended all of his kids and grandkids activities including football, baseball, softball, karate and school events. He enjoyed golfing, music, hunting, but most of all he loved to fish. He was a diehard Dallas Cowboys fan no matter how many games they won or lost. Sammy fought a long, difficult and tiresome battle with cancer, dialysis and heart disease. He fought with the courage, fortitude, dignity and bravery that made him such a strong man. Sammy made a huge impact on those he met and he will be dearly missed.
Sammy is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Karla Jean Flores; children, Lindie Arispe Flores Roberts and husband Dale, Sammy Arispe Flores II, and wife Cindi; grandchildren, Jessica Nicole Roberts, Matthew Adam Roberts, step-grandchildren Teagan Martinez, Peyton Martinez; a nephew who he considered a son, George Shannon; siblings, Lucy Rodriguez and husband Santos, Anna Garcia and husband Ted, Adam Arispe Flores and wife Cheryl; his beloved fur babies, Nowell and Callie who will attend daddy's service; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
The family would like to extend its sincere and heartfelt thanks to the doctors who cared for and befriended our husband and father: Dr. Abe Fakhoury, Dr. Jose Vega, Dr. Gorman Thorp, Shannon Palone PA-C, Anna Ramirez RN, the nurses in the Cancer Center at Hendricks and the nurses at Fresenius Dialysis Center on Pine St.
