Loving husband, devoted father, grandfather, and friend Sam C. Wade, 85, passed away Thursday, January 13, 2011, peacefully at home with family at his side. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 15, at Southwest Park Baptist Church with the Reverend Mike Woodard officiating. The burial will follow at Elmwood Memorial Park.
The family will be at Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 Highway 277 South from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday for visitation.
Born July 9, 1925, in Abernathy, Texas, he wed Wynell Marie Smith January 15, 1946 in Abernathy, Texas. After serving in the Navy during World War II, Sam returned to Abernathy to farm with his father. Then, while raising his family, he owned and operated an irrigation pump rig with hard work, expertise, and integrity. In 1984, Sam Wynell moved to Eastland and then to Abilene in 1998.
Sam was quick to laugh and loved his wifes homecooking. He enjoyed being outdoors in the sunshine gardening, walking and caring for his beloved dog Lucky. Although Sam was always wearing long sleeves, he was never far from a warm fire.
He is survived by his three children Gloria, Lane and Biff daughterinlaws, Janice and Shirley grandchildren include Tammy Teaff Gray, Brandi Teaff Dountz, Mitzi Wade Ford, Mindi Wade Hulme, Miles Wade, and Amanda Eades Wheeler and twelve greatgrandchildren.
Although his health declined, his faith and spirit didnt. Heartfelt thanks to Sams wonderful caregiver, Dorcas Condict and her affectionate dog, Bug, who were a true blessing to Sam and his family.
