Sandra Martin

Sandra Lael Shields Martin, 87, of Abilene, TX, passed away Sunday, April 3, 2022.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, April 8, 2022, at 12 PM at Wylie United Methodist Church, 3430 Antilley Rd., Abilene, TX 79606 with Jeff Hatcher officiating. Interment will follow at Elmwood Memorial Park.

Sandra was born on May 2, 1934, in Santa Anna, TX, to the late Edgar David "Jack" and Virginia Powell Shields. She was a graduate of Santa Anna High School and attended McMurry College as a music (voice) major. She married her true love, Robert Scott Martin (Bob) USAF (Ret. Col.), in Phoenix, AZ, on April 29, 1955. Together they had 5 children, Donna, Robert Scott Jr., David, Daniel, and Daon. Sandra and Bob were married 59 years until Bob passed away in 2014. Sandra's life was dedicated to her family and her church, using her many talents to provide joy for others. She had the heart of a servant and the voice of a beautiful songbird as she shared her musical gifts on many occasions. Outside of her role as Wife and Mother, she loved singing in church choirs, praise teams, weddings and special events. She was an active member of the Emmaus Community and Stephen's Ministry at First United Methodist Church in Prattville, AL. Upon moving to the Abilene area, she became an active member of Wylie United Methodist. Mom loved her Lord and Savior above all, serving Him faithfully in her life.

Sandra is survived by 4 children, Donna Folen and husband Len, David Martin, Daniel Martin and wife Jill, and Daon Johnson and husband Randy; grandchildren, Scotty & (Emily), Jessi & (Shane), Ashley, Austin, Sierra, and Chris; sister, Lois Ann Harper, nephews, Shawn, Damon and Rex Harper; Brother-in-Law Larry Martin and wife Pat, nephews Larry Jr. and Greg Martin; numerous extended family and friends.
